# How to burn liquidity pool (LP) tokens on Solana

URL: https://www.solz.app/docs/guides/burn-lp-tokens
Burn part or all of your liquidity pool (LP) tokens on Solz, finish with the SOL Incinerator, get the DexScreener lock, and compare burning with Token Lock.

## How do I burn liquidity pool (LP) tokens on Solana?

Use Burn Liquidity on Solz to burn any amount of your liquidity pool (LP) tokens for 0.025 SOL. To burn a whole balance and close its account, use the SOL Incinerator instead. Burned tokens can't be recovered, so that liquidity stays in the pool for good. A full burn is what earns the DexScreener lock.

When you add liquidity to a pool, you receive liquidity pool tokens. They're your claim on that liquidity, and you hand them back to withdraw it. Burn them, and nobody can use them to withdraw that share again, including you.

## Prerequisites

- The wallet that holds your liquidity pool tokens, which you received when you [created the pool](https://www.solz.app/docs/guides/create-raydium-liquidity-pool).
- SOL for the fee: at least 0.026 SOL for Burn Liquidity, or a very small amount for the SOL Incinerator.
- A firm decision. A burn can't be undone. If you might want the liquidity back, use [Token Lock](https://www.solz.app/token/lock/create) instead.

## Steps to burn part or all with Burn Liquidity

1. **Open the tool and connect your wallet.** Go to [Burn Liquidity](https://www.solz.app/liquidity/burn-token) and connect the wallet that holds the tokens.
2. **Select the token.** The field is labelled LP token, and it only lists the liquidity pool tokens in your wallet. Solz shows the pool's pair so you can confirm it's the right pool.
3. **Enter the amount.** Type an amount or use 25%, 50% or MAX. It comes from your wallet balance.
4. **Burn the liquidity.** Read the warning, click Burn Liquidity and approve the transaction in your wallet.

Burned tokens can't be recovered. The liquidity behind them stays in the pool for good, and neither you nor Solz can get it back.

## What should I see when a burn succeeds or fails?

When a burn works, Solz says The token's supply has been successfully burned, and your balance and the token's total supply both fall by that amount. If your wallet can't cover the fee, a red message gives the SOL you need, and nothing is burned. Then add SOL and try again.

In the example above, the wallet holds 1,500 Example / SOL LP tokens and burns 750, half of its balance. Before you click, Solz shows your balance going from 1,500 to 750, and the total supply from 1,000,000,000 to 999,999,250. The fee is 0.025 SOL, plus the network fee. This token and these balances are example data, because a real burn can't be undone.

| What you see | What it means | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The token's supply has been successfully burned | The burn is confirmed | Check your new balance. The other 750 LP tokens are still yours to burn or withdraw |
| Not enough balance, you need at least the amount shown (including gas + service fees) | You can't cover the fee and network costs | Add SOL and try again |
| Your liquidity pool token isn't in the list | This wallet doesn't hold it | Connect the wallet that created the pool or received the tokens |
| Transaction timeout ! This might be due to you sending invalid transactions / congested network | It didn't confirm in time | Check your wallet history before trying again, because it may have gone through. If not, raise your priority fee |

## Can I burn only part of my liquidity pool tokens?

Yes. Burn Liquidity lets you burn any amount, so you can lock some liquidity for good and still withdraw the rest. Each burn costs 0.025 SOL. Keep in mind that a partial burn leaves liquidity you could still pull, buyers can see that on-chain, and it may not earn the full DexScreener lock.

You can also burn in stages, for example 50% at launch and the rest later. If you plan to finish the job, the SOL Incinerator below is the cheaper way to burn what's left.

## How do I complete a burn with the SOL Incinerator?

The SOL Incinerator burns your entire balance of a token and closes its token account in one step, returning that account's rent to you. It costs 0.00002 SOL per account. It's an all-or-nothing tool, which makes it the simple way to finish a burn with no leftover balance.

1. **Open the tool and connect your wallet.** Go to the [SOL Incinerator](https://www.solz.app/token/sol-incinerator) and connect the wallet that holds the tokens.
2. **Filter to LP Tokens.** Use the token type filter so you only see liquidity pool tokens.
3. **Select the tokens.** Click a token's card to select it, and click it again to deselect it. Selected cards are outlined in red with a check mark. You can select several at once, but check the pair carefully, because everything you hold of each selected token will be burned.
4. **Review the panel.** Selected Tokens lists what you picked, with Items Selected, SOL to be Received and the fee.
5. **Confirm the burn.** Click Confirm Burn and approve the transaction in your wallet.

This screenshot uses example liquidity pool tokens, to show how selecting works.

If you already used MAX on Burn Liquidity, your balance is zero but the empty account remains. The SOL Incinerator's claim option closes it and returns the rent. Tokens in a frozen account can't be incinerated, and an account with a delegated close authority can be burned but not closed.

## How do I get the DexScreener lock?

Burn all of the pool's liquidity pool tokens. DexScreener then shows a padlock on the pair, which tells buyers the liquidity can't be pulled. You don't need to apply for it, because it's reported to come from on-chain data, usually within minutes. Token Lock doesn't earn it, and a partial burn may not fully.

1. **Check who holds the tokens.** If other people added liquidity to the pool, they hold tokens that only they can burn.
2. **Burn your balance.** Use the SOL Incinerator, or Burn Liquidity with MAX.
3. **Check DexScreener.** Open your pair and look for the padlock. Give it a few minutes to update.

DexScreener doesn't publish its rules for the padlock, so treat these details as reported rather than guaranteed. [One guide](https://www.soltokenburner.app/blog/dexscreener-padlock-liquidity-lock) says the padlock appears automatically, often within minutes. Guides disagree about exactly how a partial burn is displayed, so if you want the full lock, plan on burning everything you hold.

If your token graduated from Pump.fun, you don't need to do this. Its liquidity pool tokens were [burned at graduation](https://www.solz.app/docs/guides/launch-on-pump-fun#what-happens-after-the-bonding-curve).

## Does Token Lock give the DexScreener lock?

No. Token Lock won't give you the DexScreener padlock, but it does give buyers something a burn can't: a public page for your lock, with the amount, unlock date and terms. It suits teams who want to show commitment and still get their liquidity back later. Only burning gets the padlock.

[Token Lock](https://www.solz.app/token/lock/create) holds your liquidity pool tokens until a date you choose, on the audited Jupiter Lock program. Solz makes the lock easy to check:

- **A public page for each lock** shows the locked amount, the unlock date, the release schedule, the recipient and the unlock progress.
- **A public list of locks.** Anyone can browse and search [Locked Tokens](https://www.solz.app/token/lock/locked) by token, lock name, creator or recipient.
- **Clear terms.** Badges show whether a lock is still locked, and whether it can be cancelled or its recipient changed.
- **Easy sharing.** You can share a lock's page as a link, or on X and Telegram.
- **On-chain proof.** Buyers don't have to take your word for it, because the lock can be verified on-chain.

Sharing that page can boost buyers' confidence even without the padlock. To be convincing, avoid making a lock cancellable: the badge tells buyers you could take the tokens back.

Here's an example lock: 100,000 of a 1,000,000 balance of Example Token, titled Team tokens, sent to an example recipient wallet on November 2, 2027, with nobody able to cancel it or change the recipient. The same form takes liquidity pool tokens. The summary repeats the terms before you sign, and the fee is 0.002 SOL. When it works, Solz says Token lock created successfully. This lock uses example data, and it wasn't created.

## Should I burn, incinerate or lock?

Burn if you want the strongest signal and never need the liquidity back. Use Burn Liquidity for part of a balance, and the SOL Incinerator for all of it. Lock if you may need the liquidity later and want buyers to see a public, verifiable commitment. Only a full burn is reported to earn the DexScreener lock.

| | Burn Liquidity | SOL Incinerator | Token Lock |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| How much | Any amount | The whole balance | Any amount |
| Permanent | Yes | Yes | No, until a date you choose |
| Can you get the liquidity back | No | No | Yes, after unlocking |
| DexScreener lock | With a full burn | Yes, once all tokens are burned | No |
| Public Solz lock page | No | No | Yes |
| Closes the account and returns rent | No | Yes | No |
| Solz fee | 0.025 SOL | 0.00002 SOL per account | 0.002 SOL per lock, plus any options |

Whichever you choose, this only protects the liquidity. Buyers will still look at other things, like the [mint and freeze authority](https://www.solz.app/docs/guides/revoke-mint-freeze-authority) and how much large wallets hold.

## How much does it cost to burn liquidity pool tokens on Solz?

Burn Liquidity costs 0.025 SOL per burn, and the SOL Incinerator costs 0.00002 SOL per account and returns the account's rent. Token Lock costs 0.002 SOL per lock, plus 0.05 SOL for each optional permission. Each tool shows its fee before you sign, and a failed transaction doesn't charge the fee.

| Item | Cost |
| --- | --- |
| Burn Liquidity | 0.025 SOL per burn |
| Burn Liquidity balance check | At least 0.026 SOL in your wallet |
| SOL Incinerator | 0.00002 SOL per account, and the account's rent comes back |
| Token Lock | 0.002 SOL per lock |
| Token Lock, if the lock can be cancelled | +0.05 SOL per lock |
| Token Lock, if the recipient can be changed | +0.05 SOL per lock |

## FAQ

### What does burning do to my trading fee earnings?

Liquidity providers collect their share of trading fees by withdrawing, so burning means giving up the fees earned on that share. They stay in the pool. A creator fee is separate, and you can still claim it if your pool has one.

### Can I get my liquidity back after burning?

No. You need liquidity pool tokens to withdraw liquidity, and burned tokens are gone. If you may want the liquidity back, lock your tokens or don't burn them all.

### Why can't I burn my Meteora DAMM v2 position here?

Meteora DAMM v2 holds liquidity as a position NFT rather than as liquidity pool tokens, so My Liquidity doesn't offer a burn for it. Raydium and PumpSwap pools use liquidity pool tokens.

### Is this the tool for burning my regular tokens?

No. Burn Liquidity is only for liquidity pool tokens. To burn regular tokens and reduce their supply, use [Mint / Burn Token](https://www.solz.app/token/mint-burn-token).

### Does burning make my token safe?

No. It stops anyone withdrawing that liquidity, but large holders can still sell, and other risks remain. It's one signal among several, not a guarantee.
